Every project is taken apart with the same seven questions, each borrowed from a standard analysis tool, so you can compare this one with any other on the board. The funnel numbers come from the daily snapshots, not from the creator.
1
What is exchanged
Value Proposition CanvasFounders pay for a row on a public list. They get a link, a one-line description and a click counter, and the ones near the top get a story to tell: first place (see.io, $17,000) had 39,004 clicks after a week. For most of the 2,031 listings the purchase is a $5 joke, not an ad.
2
How the price forms
Pricing mechanism analysisPay-to-rank with whole dollars: one dollar above the spot you want, and you only pay the difference when you raise. The owner set a floor of $2, later $5; everything above that was set by bidders fighting each other, which is how the top reached $17,000 in a week.
3
Supply and scarcity
Scarcity and inventory analysisRows are unlimited, so the scarce thing is page one, not the board. The money follows that scarcity: the top 58 listings hold $189,737 of $234,889, and the other two thousand paid around $5 each.
4
Growth loop
Viral loop analysisEvery outbid produces a loser who can see it happen, and losers post as often as winners. The ledger is public, so the fight itself is the content. It spread on X and LinkedIn; Hacker News gave it 8 points and moved on.
5
Defensibility
Moat and clone analysisBeing first, plus the crowd that arrived in the first 48 hours. About 450 copies followed within a week, the GitHub template has two forks, and the median copy made $18.90. The code was never the moat; the crowd was.
6
What can kill it
Failure mode analysisAttention fading (the board of boards recorded its last payment on 26 August), the top bid freezing once nobody wants to pay $17,001, and the payment provider: Polar gave the creator a deadline to move off its platform, and he wrote that no merchant of record wanted the product. Google treats visibly priced paid links as spam, which can hurt the buyers.
7
Why it works here
Editorial verdictThe result comes from the growth loop and from being first. Copy the format a day later and you get the 450 clones: same rules, no crowd, a median of $18.90.
