Ahmed Gagan, 18, launched the map two days after outbid.lol. Instead of rows there are 194 countries, and instead of a one-dollar step a takeover costs one and a half times the current bid, with no refunds. All 194 territories were claimed within a week. Of all the copies of outbid.lol this is the one that changed the rule, and the only one in our sample that kept growing after the first weekend. Payments run through Dodo Payments.

In one sentence editorial

Forced escalation: every takeover is 50 percent dearer than the last, and being thrown out of a country is a post.

Every project is taken apart with the same seven questions, each borrowed from a standard analysis tool, so you can compare this one with any other on the board. The funnel numbers come from the daily snapshots, not from the creator.

What is exchanged

Value Proposition Canvas

Startups buy a country on a world map. Their logo colours the country, their link sits on it, and clicks are counted (31,557 by 27 August). What they buy is territory and a fight over it.

2

How the price forms

Pricing mechanism analysis

Minimum bids of 3 to 25 dollars per country, and a takeover costs one and a half times the current bid, no refunds. Every change of hands raises the price by 50 percent, so the bidders escalate each other without the owner touching anything.

3

Supply and scarcity

Scarcity and inventory analysis

All 194 countries were claimed within a week, but every one can be taken again, so supply never runs out. The last recorded takeover was Venezuela for $14.

4

Growth loop

Viral loop analysis

Being thrown out of a country is visible and personal, and the map is a picture worth posting. Taken-over owners come back to retake; that is where the growth after the first weekend came from.

5

Defensibility

Moat and clone analysis

The one rule change: 1.5 times instead of one dollar more. TrustMRR verified $9,003 through the Stripe API, more than any other copy of outbid.lol. The creator has under 4,000 followers, so the audience was not the reason.

6

What can kill it

Failure mode analysis

The wave cooling around it, takeovers becoming too expensive so the map freezes, and no refunds making the losers angry rather than eager.

7

Why it works here

Editorial verdict

The only copy in our sample that kept growing, and the only one that changed the rule. Forced escalation did what a one-dollar step could not.
